What I do
Services
General contracting for island homes — from a single repair to a full remodel. If the list below does not cover what you have in mind, ask anyway.

Carpentry & remodeling
Interiors that get used every day deserve to be built carefully. I take on kitchens, baths, and the rooms around them, along with the built-ins and trim work that make a house feel finished.
- Kitchen and bath remodels
- Built-ins, shelving, and cabinetry
- Interior trim and finish carpentry
- Doors, windows, and hardware
Decks & outdoor spaces
Out here the deck is half the house. New builds get framed and flashed to last in island weather; tired ones often need less than you would think.
- New decks, stairs, and railings
- Reboarding, repair, and refinishing
- Covered porches and entries
- Fences, gates, and screening

Framing & additions
When a house needs more room or better bones, the framing has to be right before anything else is. I handle the structure and the openings that come with it.
- Additions and bump-outs
- Garages, shops, and outbuildings
- Structural framing and repair
- Reframing for new windows and doors
Siding & exterior work
Wind, salt air, and a long wet season are hard on an exterior. Good siding and honest flashing details are the cheapest repair you will ever make.
- Cedar shingle and lap siding
- Exterior trim, soffits, and fascia
- Weatherproofing and flashing details
- Prep and repair before paint

Repairs & improvements
Not every job is a project. Plenty of good work is a half day of fixing the thing that has been bothering you since last winter.
- Rot and water-damage repair
- Doors and windows that stick or leak
- Floors, stairs, and railings
- Punch lists and small improvements
How it goes
Three steps, no surprises.
Talk it through
Call, text, or send a note. We walk the space, talk about what you want, and I tell you honestly what I think it takes.
Plan and price
You get a clear scope and a straight number, along with a realistic window for when the work can start and finish.
Build it right
The site stays clean, you hear from me as things progress, and the last ten percent gets the same attention as the first.
Service area
Island work, island schedule.
Baker Built is based on Orcas Island and works throughout San Juan County — Orcas, Lopez, San Juan, Shaw, and the smaller islands. Ferry schedules and barge trips are part of planning a job out here, and they get built into the timeline from the start.
Larger projects off-island are possible by arrangement. If you are not sure whether your place is in range, call and ask.
